Well I`v got my insurance sorted out for the 370 when I pick it up, after a going on the Admiral site and getting a quote for £638 I then went to Money Supermarket and got a quote for £598, lo and behold from Admiral :D ( I felt epic  )

I got a call yesterday from a nice lady at admiral asking if I wanted to go ahead and she would look to see if she could better the quote. A couple of minutes listening to Greensleeves and she came back with a quote of £668 :o anyway after a bit of wrangling she caved in and offered it for £598, all to be set up on Friday 15th April ready for my trip to Neil`s on the 17th to pick up the Zed :biggrin2:

Looks like that weekend will be expensive with the car, insurance and car tax

Yes that seems to be the standard 'game' - I am currently with another Proivider after about 10 years with Admiral, because I got fed up with the 'game' each year. But this year I will need to switch back to have the Mod I want. I remember a long time ago - you used to just insure a car - and that was pretty much it.

Road Tax at the level of the Zed I pay monthly - it seems less painful that way.

Bet you can't wait to pick her up.. :kicking:

Too right Les

I might go down the monthly route with the road tax depending how much it adds, the insurance would have added £144 to the premium, robbing barstewards

I've just changed cars from a Z to the XK. Only a £12 increase. This might not go down well. £220 fully comp. There's some perks to getting older lol.

I am getting old Jon 48 next :yikes:

I pay'd £42.93 last month which was renewal month 1. £42.87 for the remaining 11 Months - so £514.50

I think if you pay outright its £490 - so its £24.50 more or just over £2 a month extra. Just feels less painful.

Mine is insured through Hastings Direct and is 40.08p per month with £275 total excess. Really pleased with that as it includes legal cover and protected new claims.

I have just called the "Old People's" insurance company to advise them of the change of vehicle as the red one will not be mine from Saturday and I will need the new (blue) Zed insured from 15th April. Insurance has gone up from £232.19 by £4.18. Not bad!

Better still, I was told that 2 years' or 12000 miles gap insurance is included for free. I knew there had to be some benefits of being a KOS!!

There was (again) no excess increase or policy penalty for the Invidia exhaust. So, over-50s, you can do worse than Saga!

Just got the renewal notice for our combined policy (my Zed plus Joan's Juke). The Zed remains at £250 pa, but the Juke drops by £53. Strange, but pleasant - I thought most companies increased their premiums in year 2, hoping you wouldn't notice,

Why the Juke should drop by that amount remains a complete mystery.

Car insurance doesn't seem to make a lot of sense, my 350z' import' with Halifax £164 fully comp no mileage restrictions etc, my daily driver 300C estate £294 fully comp, both vehicles have similar replacement values.....

A question for you Dan as I do have my insurance with you guys. I've just SORN'd my car for the winter as it's off road and less of a risk, can I get cheaper insurance during that period or is it too much of a hassle to change it (not to mention taking into account any fees) and would it affect my NCD (although having said that it's capped anyway)?

Chas. I just SORN'd my GT-R and after checking the storage place had adequate cover for fire, theft and accidental damage, rang my insurer who suspended my cover and sent a refund.

If yours is stored at home, check your domestic contents covers the car (you'll probably need to tell them explicitly), then you can do the same.

Hello Chas,

We could potentially offer a 'laid-up' policy which just includes fire and theft. I don't think with cancellation fees and the insurers 'time on risk' charge you are potentially not going to be in a more financially advantageous position. I presume you still have the policy running with Flux - when is the renewal date? Feel free to message me your full name / postcode and I can enquire here.

Thanks,

Dan

I thought I'd resurrect this old thread because I've just had my renewal quote through from Admiral and it's a timely reminder to everyone not to accept the quote they/your insurer gives you. In fairness, I can't fault Admiral in the main and a lot of Members/Users on here use them as they are very accepting of the mods we like to do and it's a good policy. However, something they and all Insurers are guilty of is trying to squeeze you for extra pennies at renewal. Case in point ...........

I have the multi car policy with my GTR on it and the Peugeot 3008 daily drive. Last year the annual premium was £479.29. This years renewal came in at £520.82 - a nigh on 9% increase when no claims were made etc.

So I called then this afternoon and having waited a while (still companies using Covid as an excuse to keep you waiting ages), told them I was thinking of leaving as could do better elsewhere. After a quick chat with the guy, he applied some 'discounts' to the 2 cars (read: unloaded quote I suspect) and low and behold, my renewal quote is now £446.12 for both cars. A reduction of £74.70!!

I feel both happy and frustrated - which is a strange feeling

In all honesty I still stick with Admiral, to they reduced my premium this year and as they're miles cheaper than anyone else I just go with the renewal quote. It hasn't really altered that much in the last three years and last year I got the covid rebate too.

I know how you feel, it's just a game that many of us play every year so it's just something that's expected!

I've an Admiral Multicar policy as well, always so competitive. Even with the proposed mods for my Z in September, there were no problems and the extra will be only about £40. So much easier (and significantly cheaper) than XX and another "specialist", the name of which escapes me now. It was XX that wouldn't even quote until the mods were done, which I thought was completely nuts... 😕
