LESmo
Yesterday I had the Zed in for its MOT and Service and after 7 years of being with the same dealer and having moved house and not really wanting a 3 hour round trip back to Letchworth in February - I took it to the dealer in Norwich. Over all they were very good, they didn't over charge me, they discounted items I already had (Air Filters) and they even included the Clutch change in the main service - so very happy. Nice show room, very modern, good coffee and generally nice guys. The Zed will be very happy with its new "doctors" Given the few miles it had done in a year (380) - I wasn't expecting much change from the previous year, and it sailed through its MOT again with no advisories The Pandemic has also put the Mileage back under, driving it as a daily for 6 years - the mileage had crept up - but its now below average and will likely always stay that way. I asked them to change the Clutch Fluid this time as it had sat outside not doing much for two years, they checked and it did need it - I have a theory the moisture in the fluid is a factor in the cylinder failures I may be wrong but my theory and so far well I have nothing to prove other wise as its on it 4th change of fluid, so that will hopefully help the clutch cylinder survive. I also had a complete fuel and oil flush. The car is just now sitting just under 47,000 miles. The Emissions test was fine, I had new Spark Plugs last service - so it was Oil change, Clutch, Brake Fluid this time. As always the car felt great after the service and the shudder from the clutch seemed to have gone again for a while. It did feel strange going to another dealer but in the end I don't think it was any more expensive, I have the year breakdown included in it and a nice new stamp in the service book. Like a passport a new place I have been. They said the car was in good nick considering its age and the fact it was a daily for 6 years. I believe it's more than a theory. The cylinder failures, along with the steering lock, are the two things I picked up on when researching the car before I bought mine. They're mentioned somewhere in all the Z forums I've trawled through. The colour of the clutch fluid, along with the importance of keeping it clean, was mentioned by Abbey when it was serviced by them last year. I had them change it and probably will have them do so every two years, or maybe yearly. It's not an expensive job and could save a whole load of cost and grief. 1 Quote 2017 (67) 370Z NISMO - Ecutek - Cobra HFCs - HKS filters - Japan Racing 15mm spacers all round - roof wrapped in Avery Dennison "Gloss Burgundy" - heavy tint rear screen - "Z" burgers 2020 SEAT Ateca FR Black Edition / 2015 French C1 Thingy / 2016 Aygo
JohnFK
Just for interest.. In my 350 I use RBF600 in both Brake and Clutch systems. Its a higher spec than needed for clutch but having had both master and slave cylinders replaced it seemed like a good strategy. 2 Quote Nissan Current: - 350Z GT4, Ultra Yellow, 62/176 - "Muttley" (it was the only Z in the village ....) - GT-R R35 MY21 Track Edition, Storm White – Factory options: Carbon roof, spoiler, bootlid (painted), carbon ceramic brakes, Nismo carbon seats and Nismo steering wheel… Nissan Previous: - GT-R R35 MY09 Premium, Titanium; - GT-R R35 MY11 Recaro, Storm White; - Juke Nismo Manual, Blade Silver; - GT-R R35 MY14 Recaro Vermilion Red; - GT-R R35 MY15 Premium 45th Anniversary Edition, Champagne. LESmo
The Zed had not been used much over the past couple of years and sitting outside the Carbon on the B Pillars had gone - so rather than struggle to get them off and then pay about £250 for two more bits of carbon I decided to wrap both of them - just need to leave it 72 hours to cure in the garage (the car is not coming out in this weather I remember the big storm when I was at College in the 80's) and they should be good but happy with the result. I went Matt Black Carbon - I did get some Red but it would have been a bit bright I think. I didn't take a photo of them before the new wrap - as It was ugly. 1 Quote Current - 2014 (14) 370z NISMO in Storm White #229, JDM Carbon Nismo Kickplates, JDM Carbon Nismo B Pillars, Nismo Tyre Caps, Nismo Oil Cap, K&N Filters, MY15 Nismo Start Button. Hi Mate, not very, they tend to be a specialist club for 240z's we have done a few events with them and the guys we have met have been great. But as far as 350/370 - not very at all. Most of the posts are likely to be one of us I would expect. I know three members here who are members. 1 Quote Current - 2014 (14) 370z NISMO in Storm White #229, JDM Carbon Nismo Kickplates, JDM Carbon Nismo B Pillars, Nismo Tyre Caps, Nismo Oil Cap, K&N Filters, MY15 Nismo Start Button.
