Finally.... Something to suggest they are working on the Zed. Is the logo similar / the same to a 240z?

I approve!

The rear does look quite 240Z but, in silhouette at least, it looks a bit F Type to me too.

The Z logo is the one they copyrighted a few months back but is pretty much the original Z logo as seen on the 240Z and barely changed right up until the 300ZX. The 350Z broke the mold with its new Z logo which was tweaked again for the 370Z.

So, the question is how long before we see something in the flesh? I guess all motorshows are cancelled or on hold at the moment.

Cut through some of this statement:

2) Prioritizing core markets and core products

Actions:

Focusing Nissan’s core operations in the markets of Japan, China and North America

Leveraging the Alliance assets to maintain Nissan’s business at appropriate operational level in South America, ASEAN and Europe

Exiting South Korea, the Datsun business in Russia and streamlining operations in some markets in ASEAN

Focusing on global core model segments including enhanced C and D segment vehicles, electric vehicles, sport cars

Introduce 12 models in the next 18 months

Expanding presence in EVs and electric-motor-driven cars, including e-POWER, with more than 1 million electrified sales units expected a year by end of FY23,

In Japan, launching two more electric vehicles and four more e-POWER vehicles, increasing electrification ratio to 60% of sales

Introducing ProPILOT advanced driver assistance system in more than 20 models in 20 markets, targeting more than 1.5 million units to be equipped with this system per year by the end of FY23.

Bad: "Focusing Nissan’s core operations in the markets of Japan, China and North America"

Good: "Focusing on global core model segments including enhanced C and D segment vehicles, electric vehicles, sport cars"

And the other question must now be: whether it will come to Europe / UK or will it be imports of JDM only...

Have other cars started in Japan and then moved to Europe. Am I right in thinking the 350z was in Japan first and then had to be made more "Europe like" by sorting the suspension, brakes etc. Is it possible we will see this released in the Japan Market. With the UK getting a TT Engine in the existing 370z and then see how things go. Or do we now think even the refresh they were talking about for the 370z may be off the table.

Those people sitting on Mint Special edition GT4 350z's are sitting pretty. Next Classic Model in the Zed Range.

Good questions guys. I don't know, but I would say if they release a JDM version (and I think that's got to be a given) then the RHD variant will find it's way to these shores one way or another ;)

Here are a few screenshots from the vid.

Side profile:

gallery_245_547_467919.png

A real pointed front end (front camera please!)

gallery_245_547_288017.png

Front this angle the bonnet and nose looks quite 370Z NISMO V1 - do you think?

gallery_245_547_320959.png

A 240Z lookalike rear roofline and wings IMHO:

gallery_245_547_246709.png

A little bit of diffuser perhaps?

Nice haunches:

Here you go Les, I thought I posted it somewhere!

So, Nissan have trademarked a new logo. Well, not that new - it's the original 240Z-era logo but, apparently, it wasn't trademarked before :?:

--> Nissan trademarks new 'Z' logo <--

What is nice to see, assuming the images we are seeing are accurate as to the final product, it looks like the new Z is getting some nice original features and not borrowing from the rest of the line up. See the different grill and headlight designs from the line up picture.

I'm siding with the word from the horses mouth today:

  • Focusing on global core model segments including enhanced C and D segment vehicles, electric vehicles, sport cars
  • Introduce 12 models in the next 18 months

I'm ignoring the other reports!

But the above doesnt have the European marketplace in it. Also interesting that when you look at the slides the sportscars images show a GT-R, a 370Z, and the Infiniti 4-door thingamy.

Well spotted John

A loooong time ago I heard rumour of a Infiniti with R35 underpinnings. It's a shame Infiniti isn't in the UK anymore.

An article from WhatCar here says it's definitely going to be called the 400Z and have a 3.0 V6 TT. I thought that was still speculation.

I must admit the splitter on the front looks Nismo V1. The profile of the bonnet is very new MX5 (or is that just me). Looks shorter?

Renault have had to seek a 5 billion euro bailout from the French government and subsequently cancelled the Alpine, the question is since Renault have been forced to axe their cool sports car will Nissan be allowed to progress with theirs, when sales and profit for these cars is low ? I'm not so sure

It could be worse they could be Honda who will be extremely lucky to come through this crisis at all

According to Evo the A110 (and S) are safe for the time being. Otherwise, Renault themselves are going to focus on electric vehicles and LGVs, which is probably going to become the new French way - how thrilling. As a result we may not get another Mégane, and fewer Clio variants, which on the basis of recent examples will not cause me to lose much sleep at all.

Returning to the next Zed - although I'm loath to comment on what I see, as we all see different influences on the design - three things leap out at me: Firstly, in profile, it looks like a 350Z with a fatter a***; secondly, it needs a lip spoiler (or a 350Z Nismo v.1 spoiler - I'm not that fussy); and, thirdly, overbite!

Speaking non-aesthetically, if I could find a Porsche 718 Boxster GTS 4.0 that had been written off, but the engine was in perfect working order, I would have that motor transplanted in and show Nissan how you do it properly. I wouldn't care if it was a bit slower in a sprint. I wouldn't care at all. Provided the windows were not closed. It's just a shame that engines nowadays are nothing more than mounting points for turbochargers.

Thanks Alex_C.

No fridge door handles. Hooray.

Thankfully it appears to be bucking the trend to add lumps & bumps everywhere, just for the sake of it.

I like the DRL's, but do the headlights hark back to the 240z? Hard to tell, but it's not obvious that they do.

I think it will need - and hope it will get - a rear spoiler.

Massively loads of cues back to the old 240z - more than any previous iteration, but not massively different from the 370z, as far as I can tell. As for dimensions, I'll be surprised if it's not based on the same floorpan as the 370z. Any differences will probably be minimal?

To be honest, if it eventually looks like this, it wouldn't look hugely different to my current car, so I'd need to ask if I need 400hp and a twin turbo 3L. If the answer were to be 'yes', then this will undoubtedly be the car (if it's available here).

From what I can see, I like it.

Nice post!

I wonder if you're right about the 370Z floor pan. Might that be why we saw a 370Z mule around the 'ring a while back?

Or was that just the first part of a clever build up by Nissan???
