Specialist Insurance Recommendations?

Recommended Posts

Afternoon all, before I press the button on one of the very reasonable quotes I've had for my 370Z Nismo, I thought I'd ask if anyone uses or can recommend a specialist option of some sort.

Just so I cover all bases really.

Just my opinion, but I go with a cheap, standard insurance I find on some price comparison website. Others may have different views.

TBH, you don’t need a specialist insurer for a 370Z. I have used Admiral for 4 years or so now and their prices are very keen. They will also insure you for aftermarket tweaks such as exhaust etc. Prices are very subjective, of course, but I would try them before you settle elsewhere.

I agree, only go specialist if the car is highly modified.

I have to search around for an insurer who doesn't refuse even small mods, such as wheel spacers.

I use Admiral and they dont seem to mind small mods and just note them without changing the premium. However, their £30 admin charge for a phone call to discuss such matters is a pita. They say you can do things online but that never seems to include the things I want to amend!

Yeah I did yesterday, £287 -  £320 are the best quotes fully comp with Mrs L as a named driver. Job done I think.

Just before you press the button, it might be worth while checking if these companies will let you make small scale changes to the car eg exhaust, re-map etc. You never know what you might consider doing in the future ..........

Thanks Jeff, have done.

I fully expect to keep this one OEM, with the possible exception of the exhaust, which is something I would look into after a few months of ownership.

£288.06 paid, insured from this Friday. 😊

I was with Axa for a while but they didn't allow the exhaust change - so I tied the move to Admiral at the time I wanted to do the exhaust.  Some insurers think adding a sticker is the same as adding 300bhp - I have all the mods declared on the Zed and while Axa were cheaper - they were really inflexible.  Given my driving history it was a bit disappointing.

I was with Adrian Flux for a good few years as they weren't too bothered by mods such as exhausts, but by far the biggest advantage with them was the 'Flex Drive' bolt on giving me £20,000 of fully comp cover on someone else's car.  It was only £15 more, and I think when I was last a customer it went up to £20 or £25.

I had to leave them last year as rhe best quote they give me was much, much more than anyone else but I'll try again later in the year while I'm up for renewal.

no sooner do i mention them and my renewal arrives!

renewed via them again, after a phone call to get them to price match a cheaper quote from Admiral.

All sorted, no hassles.
