Hi all my apologies in advance if I have made any mistakes here as I'm new to your forum. Just decided to treat myself to a 2012 370z gt edition automatic ,they are prepping the for me now and there was 1 warning light on that we couldn't work out what it was,1st we thought it was boot or bonnet open but dosnt seem to be. Here is a picture of the light. It's the red one not the yellow triangle asking for fuel lol.Screenshot_20220304-162151_eBay.thumb.jpg.87ed3ae17b6c4a99235679d510daaaaf.jpg

Hi sorry I never replied earlier I didn't know I had a reply as im still finding my way around the sight. Well we initially thought that so opened and closed bonnet and boot but stayed on. It's a very reputable dealer he said the car will be spot on when I get it. They use an independent mot station so the ecu will be scanned and all sorted as the full mot there cars, full service and fresh valet before customer gets it. Standard 6mths warranty covering everything but for £200 they extend the warranty to 15 mth so a no brainer. Oh yeah I did manage to find on video but they said it was a roof light on a roadster dunno lol. Thanks again. Chris

Hello and welcome!

As pointed out, it's the bonnet lift mechanism. Just to be sure, are you starting the car to check if this light goes out? I can't remember for sure but that light goes out either a few seconds after ignition on or engine on... I'm not in my Zed today so I can't confirm. I'm sure someone else will though!

Yes mate it stays on when you drive. The garage sells a lot of hi end cars and he said everything will be done properly. Obviously car will be scanned to find what it is but I will email the dealer anyway and tell him Bonnet lift mechanism. Thanks Guys really appreciate you advice. Chris.

It is the bonnet lift mechanism and it does stay on for a few seconds after the engine had started, AFAIK it need checking properly because it can be an expensive fix depending on what the fault is.

Current: Metallic pearl white 2012 370z GT Edition, Invidia stainless cat back exhaust, Stillen Gen 3 Intakes and K&N filters and a UpRev remap

Dealer just emailed me letting me know it passed mot with no advisories so it must of been sorted. I know what your thinking but I did ask him when enquiring about the car if they did there own mots and he said we did think about it once but stayed with an independent as not just because they do have a few exotics but because they never wanted to be accused of anything iffy with an mot as even if a car they have has 6 mths mot left they always put a fresh one on and an oil service then freshly valeted. Mine looked mint inside maybe I missed something through the excitement of the test drive as I said it is clean in here and he said once mot and service done it will get a fresh valet anyway before collection. Probably why they had been a family run business still going strong after 32 yrs. Thanks again for replies you have given me I really appreciate it,sure I'll be on with all sorts now lol. Stay Safe all!!! Chris.

Make sure you check with the garage Chris as the bonnet lifter warning light may not be an MOT failure.  Don't get me wrong, not trying to spoil your enjoyment of picking up your new (awesome!) toy but once you drive off the forecourt, these things are always a little harder to get fixed.

The part they needed was indeed what one if you guys said,a lift mechanism or something but I spoke to dealer and he said it was some sort of wire to do with the lift mechanism or something, said they pulled it a few times and light went off but he said I just ordered a new one from nissan £90+ vat as he said you would of only had to come back at some point and had it done under warranty. Most dealers would of said the lights off now so leave it lol. Oh while I'm here I wanted to ask something else. 1st thing I want to get done is a gearbox service not just so I know it's done but many videos and post I have read people have said there car run great but gearbox was serviced it seemed to feel even better. Question was I watched on video where the guy said the filter is a one time filter and very rarely needs changing and it showed how easily all the dirt just wiped off leaving what looked like a brand new filter, also he praised nissan saying he didn't even need a new sump gasket. Just cleaned filter and magnets. Only thing he had trouble with was the same as myself when I used to do my 4x4 always got 4.8 ltrs out the sump but could never get the other 5ltrs out the torque converter. Spoke to RB MOTORSPORT who specialises in gtrs, skylines and other jap waiting for reply for price but he did say they flush the whole system cleaning the torque converter. Would of had car today but waiting for nissan with the part..Hahaha he said before I could ask he said yes Chris it's stored inside in there central head warehouse lol. Yeah guys so just for my own reference Exact ATF and query about filter and gasket. 2012. Thanks in advance again for welcoming men with open arms lol. 👍👍👍

Hope my van sells as I have reduced price only because I only have 2 parking spaces and need the space for the 370.

Paint it black and put a red stripe down it!  Then it will sell (the tyres on it inspired that comment!) 🤣

Sounds like the garage are a decent lot and worth waiting for the part to be changed before you pick it up.

As for gearbox service, I had my gearbox oil changed a year or two ago but it sounds like yours is an auto (mine's a manual).  So hopefully a member with an auto box will be along soon to let you know what they have done...

To much contradiction online. What is the best tyre for fast road driving and motorway. Not that I need them yet as loads of tread left on all but my OCD dosnt like the different brands on front and rear. They are in pairs and plenty chunky but I gotta have 4 the same.

Thanks all!

Hey Chris, not wishing to stem the flow of questions at all (questions are what this forum does!) but you might be better posting in the dedicated 370Z section - you’ll get more footfall there!

I only hope we can come up with all the answers!

Jeff.

There have been plenty of discussions on tyres on this site so take a search and see if any of the previous threads can help you.  Maybe start a new thread in the appropriate section ("370Z General Discussion"?) if you then have specific questions. 😄
